PART-TIME SALES ASSOCIATE — OPTICAL RETAIL Laurier Optical, Carleton Place

This is not regular retail.

We're a recent optical store and we're looking for someone who engages, listens and sells — not someone who waits to be asked a question.

YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU

- Are naturally outgoing and actually enjoy talking to people
- Ask questions and listen — you want to understand what someone needs before recommending anything
- Take initiative — you see someone browsing and you go say hello, not wait by the till
- Build relationships — you want them to come back, not just complete the sale
- Are curious about eyewear and willing to learn lenses properly
- Have sales or customer-facing experience of some kind

WHAT MATTERS MORE THAN WHERE YOU'VE WORKED Optical is consultative selling. You're understanding someone's lifestyle, prescription and budget, then recommending something that genuinely works for them. It takes patience and real conversation.

We don't care whether that skill came from car sales, a coffee counter, a salon chair, a restaurant floor, a phone shop or another optical store. If you've been the person customers ask for by name, you'll do well here.

HOURS

20 hours per week. We're open to extending hours for someone who proves themselves. Real room to grow your schedule and earnings as the store grows.

COMPENSATION

$21–$25 per hour, based on experience Personal sales bonus program 4% vacation pay Staff discount on eyewear In office parking No Ottawa commute

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Proper training in consultative optical sales — frames, lens options, coatings, measurements, adjustments, and how the whole store runs. Small team, so you learn the business rather than one station.
