Job Overview - Job Title: Painter - Department: Operations - Production - Classification: In Line - Reports to: Production Supervisor/Manager - Plant: 2 - Direct Reports: None - Number of Vacancies: 1 - Shift: Monday - Friday - Shift Start/End: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Job Purpose The Painter applies primer, base coat or clear coat as directed to the parts being produced. He/she ensures that the coverage applied is adequate, and that the equipment used is cleaned and cared for appropriately at the end of their shift. Duties - Follows all Select Finishing health and safety policies, procedures, and manufacturer instructions, including the proper use of required PPE.

- Reports all health and safety concerns, incidents, equipment failures, or potential failures to the Supervisor/Team Lead immediately.
- Follows direction of the Supervisor/Team Lead and adheres to all Work Instructions (WIS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); reports any discrepancies.
- Assists in the implementation and adherence of Standard Operating Procedures for production operations and ensures required daily production data is recorded.
- Conducts detailed inspections of parts upon arrival and after coating to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with quality control standards.
- Conducts and monitors testing and inspection of materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Applies primer, base coat, and clear coat using the appropriate spray method for the part type; turns/swivels racks as required to ensure adequate coverage.




- Ensures paints are mixed correctly to required viscosity specifications; maintains sufficient levels of solvents, base coats, transparent coats, and hardeners in the pot room.
- Verifies paint gun assembly, setup, and capability; sets up and verifies P-Mix systems and confirms proper flow rates.
- Capable of manipulating paint robots, inputting programs, troubleshooting, and resetting operations as required.
- Maintains paint booths, equipment, and work centers in good repair, clean, organized, and ready for daily use at the end of each shift.
- Assists in investigating customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
- Determines and recommends improvements to production processes; supports implementation of cost control programs under the direction of the Production/Operations Manager.
- Flexible to work a regular Saturday preventative maintenance shift as required.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or general labour role - Advanced knowledge of finishing processes, including paint applications, inspections, and quality standards.
- Ability to perform advanced quality checks and ensure compliance with production specifications.
- Skilled in handling complex rework tasks with precision and efficiency.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Experience in mentoring or training less experienced team members preferred.

Working Conditions - Industrial environment with exposure to paint, solvents, and machinery noise.

- PPE compliance required - Successfully pass a FIT test, Pulmonary Function Test and Isocyanate Training
