Position Overview As the Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will play a key role in executing the payroll operations and benefits administration for our two dealerships, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional with a deep understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and benefits administration with a track record of success in the automotive industry. This position does not have any direct reports and is expected to be onsite during the first few months of on-boarding and then moving to a hybrid setup.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Payroll
Processing - Process payroll for all 150+ employees in compliance with all appropriate national, provincial and local withholding regulations within UKG payroll software - Manage accurate and timely processing of multiple payroll cycles including bi-weekly, semi monthly, and monthly schedules for both dealerships - Ensure deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related elements are processed accurately.
- Upload payroll data into accounting software 2.
Benefits Administration and HR - Manage benefit enrollments and terminations with our benefits providers - Assist with employee HR documentation such as employment agreement drafting, letters of employment, and termination letters - General filing and document retention 3. Compliance and Reporting - Stay abreast of Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Prepare and submit required statutory reports, including T4s, ROEs, and other relevant documentation.
- Provide periodic analysis of payroll and disbursement records to ensure that adjustments are in accord with management’s criteria - Collaborate with finance and management to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Team Collaboration - Collaborate with sales, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and integration of payroll-related information.
- Provide guidance to other staff members on payroll-related matters and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Provides on-going assistance to employees in tax-related payroll matters - Employee training scheduling for OEM requirements 5.
System
Management - Utilize UKG payroll software to optimize efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing and reporting.
- Implement best practices in system utilization and stay informed about system updates and improvements.
- Utilize dealership management software (DMS) to enter payroll data for accounting purposes Qualifications:
- Payroll Compliance Skilled (PCP) designation is a must - Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation, tax regulations, and labor standards.
