Job Overview
AB Academy is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Primary School Homeroom Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will teach students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 2, creating a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth.
Instruction is aligned with the Ontario Curriculum and emphasizes inquiry-based learning, foundational literacy and numeracy, creativity, and hands-on learning experiences. Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 2.
- Foster students' literacy, numeracy, inquiry, and social-emotional development through developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with varying learning profiles.
- Assess, evaluate, and provide timely, constructive feedback on student progress.
- Integrate educational technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance student engagement.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and ongoing career development.
- Support the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
certification or eligibility for certification.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum for the Primary Division (JK–Grade 2).
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience teaching young learners in Kindergarten and/or the Primary Division.
- Experience working with English Language Learners and students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.
