MTLI Group is looking for a highly accountable Project Manager to manage industrial construction, warehouse automation, material handling, racking, conveyor, installation and related projects throughout Ontario and across North America.
This is not a coordinator-level position.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a project from the moment it is awarded through planning, procurement, mobilization, execution, financial management, customer communication and final closeout.
What you will own
You will be responsible for the complete project lifecycle, including:
- Reviewing awarded scopes, estimates, proposals, drawings and contracts
- Leading internal sales-to-operations project handoffs
- Developing complete project execution plans
- Building and maintaining project schedules and milestone plans
- Coordinating engineering, drawings, permits and approvals
- Creating labour and manpower plans
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site leadership
- Managing equipment rentals, freight, deliveries and site logistics
- Coordinating material procurement and vendor timelines
- Managing customer expectations and project communications
- Running kickoff meetings, progress meetings and project reviews
- Tracking project budgets, committed costs and forecasted costs
- Monitoring labour hours and productivity against estimate
- Protecting project gross margin
- Identifying scope changes and issuing change orders quickly
- Reviewing and approving daily reports
- Ensuring proper documentation of delays, deficiencies and additional work
- Managing health and safety requirements alongside field leadership
- Visiting active project sites as required
- Troubleshooting project issues before they impact schedule or profitability
- Managing punch lists and deficiency completion
- Coordinating invoicing milestones with finance
- Ensuring billing happens quickly and accurately
- Collecting project closeout documents
- Conducting final project reviews and lessons learned
- Maintaining strong long-term customer relationships
Full PNL Ownership Our Project Managers are expected to understand the financial side of every project they manage.
You will be responsible for:
- Original project budget
- Labour budget
- Equipment costs
- Material costs
- Subcontractor costs
- Freight and logistics
- Change orders
- Project billing
- Cost-to-complete forecasting
- Gross margin
- Project profitability
You should be able to explain at any time: Where the project stands, what it will cost to finish, whether it is on schedule, what risks exist and what the expected final margin will be.

What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate has experience managing industrial projects where multiple trades, vendors, equipment suppliers and customer stakeholders must be coordinated simultaneously.
- 5+ years of Project Management experience
- Experience managing projects from award through final closeout
- Industrial construction, material handling, automation, conveyor, racking or similar experience
- Strong understanding of project budgeting and cost control
- Experience managing subcontractors and field crews
- Ability to read construction drawings and project documentation
- Experience building and managing project schedules
- Robust customer communication skills
- Experience managing change orders
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Comfortable working in fast-moving project environments
- Ability to travel to project sites when required
- Valid driver's licence
- Experience with companies involved in:
- Warehouse automation
- Material handling
- Conveyor integration
- Industrial construction
- General contracting
- Racking and storage systems
- Mechanical installation
- Distribution centre construction
- Logistics facilities
- System integration
Experience working on projects for major retailers, logistics companies, manufacturers, 3PLs, system integrators or large distribution centres is considered a major asset.

- We are looking for someone who takes ownership. You should be comfortable walking onto a project and knowing:
- What needs to happen today
- What needs to happen next week
- Where the project is financially
- What materials are missing
- Whether labour productivity is on target
- What the customer is expecting
- What could potentially delay the project
- What additional work needs to be documented and charged
You should not need someone continuously telling you what to do next. MTLI Group delivers industrial installation, construction, material handling and automation projects across North America.

- Travel: Project-dependent travel throughout Ontario, Canada and the United States may be required.
