Position: Python Backend Engineer

Location: Toronto, Ontario – Onsite

Role Overview

- We are looking for skilled Python Backend Engineers to build, scale, and maintain high-performance backend systems. This role will focus on API development, platform engineering, and system design supporting enterprise-grade, scalable, secure financial platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python .
- Build and manage RESTful APIs and backend integrations.
- Contribute to platform engineering initiatives focused on reliability and scalability.
- Lead and participate in system design discussions for distributed systems.
- Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Optimize backend services for performance, security, and observability .




- Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong experience with Python backend development .
- Hands-on experience with API design and development , including REST, JSON, and OpenAPI.
- Strong system design experience, including scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.
- Experience in platform engineering or building shared backend platforms.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases .
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP .
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices .
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a Canadian university or college .
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in financial services or fintech environments.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture .
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes .
- Exposure to security, compliance, and high-availability systems .
