Trucks is hiring a full-time Quality Assurance – Continuous Improvement Specialist. As a Quality Assurance – Continuous Improvement Specialist at Fort Garry Fire Trucks, you will develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and quality records. In addition, this position works with department managers and employees to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, delivery and cost.

Quality Assurance Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and quality records.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Support internal, customer, supplier, and certification audits, including preparation of required documentation and follow-up on audit findings.
- Record, investigate, and monitor internal and external nonconformances.
- Organize regular meetings with management and production personnel to review nonconformances and determine appropriate disposition.
- Assign and track corrective and preventive action plans through to completion.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions and ensure that issues do not recur.
- Work with suppliers to investigate and resolve quality issues involving materials, components, and services.
- Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation, records, and reports.
- Promote a culture in which quality is built into every process rather than identified only during final inspection.





Continuous Improvement Duties and Responsibilities

- Work with department managers and employees to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, delivery, and cost.
- Lead and/or support root-cause investigations using methods such as 5 Whys, PDCA, DMAIC.
- Create, update, and maintain standard work instructions, visual aids, checklists, and process-control documentation.
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, visual management, standardized work, and waste reduction.
- Collaborate with employees to test, implement, and sustain process improvements.
- Train employees on quality procedures, inspection methods, documentation requirements, and improved work practices.
- Collect and analyze performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
- Verify that implemented improvements achieve measurable, sustainable results.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage subcontractor insurance coverage reporting.
- Manage and report on the Forced Labour in Canadian Supply Chains questionnaire.
- Participate as a member of the Health and Safety Committee.
- Update the Access database with the dates chassis, pumps, and manifolds are received, and enter the same dates on the corresponding purchase orders.




- Maintain the Production Shortage spreadsheet and advise the appropriate personnel of any items that may be delayed and affect the production schedule.
- Assist the Purchasing department with expediting materials and resolving delivery issues.
- Compile and report CAR KPIs for Operations meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Applicant Requirements:

- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
- Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high-quality results
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Reliable transportation; busing is not available at our location.

Assets:

- Previous experience working with ISO standards
- Previous work experience or training in lean manufacturing
- Lean Six Sigma green or yellow belt training
- Education in Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
