Quality Control Manager
Price-Schonstrom Inc., an established pressure vessel and custom fabrication company located near Walkerton, Ontario, is seeking a full-time Quality Control Manager.
This position is primarily focused on quality documentation, material traceability, inspection records and maintaining compliance with our ASME and N299.3 Quality Programs. The successful candidate must also be comfortable working with production personnel and performing shop-floor inspections when required.
Qualifications The successful candidate will:
- Possess strong documentation, computer and organizational skills
- Have experience preparing, reviewing and controlling quality records
- Be familiar with ASME Section VIII, Division 1
- Have knowledge of CSA N299.3 quality assurance requirements or be willing to learn
- Be familiar with CSA W47.1 and CSA W59
- Understand welding processes, including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SMAW
- Have completed the CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 course or be willing to complete it
- Understand carbon steel, stainless steel and common fabrication materials
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Be able to communicate effectively with customers, inspectors, suppliers and production personnel
- Be willing and able to relocate within commuting distance of Walkerton, Ontario
- Be versatile and comfortable working in a small-company environment
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer the company’s ASME and N299.3 Quality Programs
- Prepare and organize job-specific quality documentation
- Review customer specifications, purchase orders, drawings and quality requirements
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plans, travelers, checklists and turnover packages
- Prepare weld maps and welder identification maps
- Maintain welder qualifications, welding procedures and supporting records
- Prepare TSSA reports and registration documentation
- Coordinate CRN and other required document registrations
- Compile Manufacturer’s Data Reports and completed vessel documentation packages
- Maintain document-control systems, including revisions, approvals and distribution
- Review and verify material test reports and certificates of compliance
- Maintain material identification and traceability records
- Review purchase documentation to confirm that materials and components meet project requirements
- Maintain calibration, inspection, testing and non-conformance records
- Prepare documentation for customer, regulatory and third-party inspections
- Coordinate quality hold points and inspection notifications
- Communicate with Authorized Inspectors, customers and third-party inspection agencies
- Assist with internal, customer and certification audits
- Track corrective actions and ensure deficiencies are properly documented and resolved
- Support continuous improvement of quality procedures and documentation systems
- Perform weld, dimensional and visual inspections when required
- Coordinate and document pressure testing and other vessel testing
- Purchase and maintain welding consumables as required
