Residential Care Worker (RCW)

About the Role

Kettlecreek Residence is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Residential Care Worker (RCW) to support residents in a safe, respectful, person-centred, and recovery-oriented environment.

The Residential Care Worker provides day-to-day support with personal care, medication dispensing, wellness and life skills, appointments, activities, household responsibilities, and community participation. The successful candidate will promote resident independence and dignity while ensuring safety, accurate documentation, and adherence to individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities

- Dispense and document medications accurately according to physician orders, pharmacy instructions, MAR, and organizational procedures.
- Complete medication counts and the required weekly medication inventory.
- Monitor medications for expiry dates and report medication discrepancies or incidents immediately.
- Complete required vital signs and report significant changes in residents' health or behavior.
- Assist residents with ADLs, personal hygiene, laundry, and maintaining clean living spaces.
- Follow individualized care plans and document resident progress toward goals.
- Support residents with wellness, recovery, employment, education, volunteer opportunities, and independent living skills.
- Facilitate daily group activities and provide meaningful one-to-one support.
- Monitor resident behaviour and report changes, concerns, or potential triggers appropriately.
- Remind and assist residents with appointments and community supports.
- Conduct safety rounds of the residence and surrounding property during each shift.
- Maintain a clean, safe, secure, and welcoming residential environment.
- Monitor continence supplies and coordinate replacements as required.
- Follow procedures for room keys and resident property.
- Complete incident reports and all required documentation accurately and before the end of the shift.




- Participate in shift reports and communicate important resident updates to the team.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy legislation, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Social Service Work, Developmental Services, Community Support, Mental Health, Addictions, or a related human services field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience in residential care, mental health, addictions, supportive housing, developmental services, or a related setting is an asset.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence may be required depending on program needs.
