RED SEAL HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK & TRANSPORT MECHANIC

Wrangler Truck Service is seeking a skilled and motivated Red Seal Heavy-Duty Truck & Transport Mechanic to join our maintenance and repair team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.

This position requires strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing repairs safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have experience working on diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks and be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air systems.

Responsibilities

- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drivetrains, and related components.
- Diagnose and repair air brake systems, hydraulic systems, suspension, steering, and braking components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including wiring, sensors, starting and charging systems, and vehicle control systems.
- Perform engine tune-ups, component replacements, and preventative maintenance services.
- Inspect and repair truck and trailer components to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on cooling systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, after-treatment systems, and emissions-related components.
- Use diagnostic software, scan tools, schematics, service manuals, and technical information to accurately identify and repair equipment issues.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor repairs as required.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, hoists, jacks, and other shop equipment.




- Conduct road tests and equipment testing when required to verify repairs.
- Complete detailed work orders, inspection reports, service records, and maintenance documentation.
- Identify additional repairs or maintenance requirements and communicate findings to management or customers.
- Work efficiently to meet repair schedules and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable workplace safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other mechanics, apprentices, service personnel, and management.
- Perform other duties related to heavy-duty truck repair and maintenance as required.

Qualifications & Skills
- Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician / Truck & Transport Mechanic certification preferred. If you have your safety number feel free to apply wage will differ.
- Previous experience working on heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, air brakes, hydraulic systems, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and technical service manuals.
- Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-specific diagnostic software.




- Robust understanding of preventative maintenance and vehicle inspections.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with a variety of heavy-duty truck makes and models is an asset.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and shop equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also working effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving and mechanical reasoning skills.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working underneath vehicles.
- Valid driver's licence is required; Class 1 or Class 3 licence is considered an asset.
