The PrEP Clinic / The Ontario Prevention Clinic +pharmacy is currently seeking a candidate for the Full-Time position of Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT).
The PrEP Clinic is a province-wide leader in online HIV prevention and sexual health services operating since 2019. In addition to online care, we offer in-person sexual health clinics and pharmacy services. This position will be on-site at our 180 Bloor Street West, Toronto location. We are an intercollaborative team of Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians/Assistants, and Social Workers - and currently expanding our team of 50+ team members.
We are looking for a highly motivated, outgoing, and detail-oriented applicant to join our dynamic team. Individuals with at least 1 full continuous year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician are welcome to apply. (This includes people with international experience). Individuals without healthcare experience will not be considered for the role.
This role will leverage the expanded scope of practice authorized for pharmacy technicians in Ontario to deliver queer-competent care for HIV prevention and treatment in Toronto and across Ontario. We are more of an office-based setting and are not a standard community pharmacy practice. (ie. 8th floor of an office building with mostly one-on-one interactions with patients). The applicant will receive training related to the clinic side, however strong foundations in pharmacy practice and patient relation skills are essential.

Pharmacy Responsibilities
- Perform technical verification of prescriptions including but not limited to drug, delivery, and medical supplies preferences
- Manage prescription inventory for satellite locations in Brampton and Ottawa
- Manage prescription refill faxes and insurance special authorization faxes
- Order drugs for filled prescriptions that are out of stock (LPG, LSU, drug companies, etc.)
- Reconcile inventory every month for high-cost HIV drugs, every 3 months for controlled/narcotic substances (or as required by federal and OCP regulations), and every year for all drugs
- Process expired/damaged drug returns and drug waste in coordination with LPG and drug companies
- Perform all other responsibilities within scope of practice as assigned by pharmacy lead
- Responsibilities may evolve with updated scopes of practice and business needs
Workflow and Operations
- Utilize, troubleshoot, and back up pharmacy software to manage prescription orders
- Utilize clinic EMR system alongside pharmacy software to manage prescription orders
- Take verbal prescription orders from nurse practitioners at our clinic and external prescribers
- Troubleshoot complex pharmacy billing (Trillium Drug Program, IFHP, special authorizations, PrEPSaver Program, etc.)
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain good standing as a registered pharmacy technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Serve as pharmacy chair for CQI committee at the PrEP Clinic
- Maintain accurate prescription and drug count records in accordance with regulatory standards
- Identify and report medication errors or near misses on incident reporting platform
- Adhere to all company policies, including the Confidentiality Agreement, and maintain strict patient privacy standards
Teamwork
- Collaborate effectively with all interprofessional teams at the PrEP Clinic
- Communicate with cultural sensitivity to patients and staff (e.g. HIV care, queer-competent care, etc.)
- Help train and mentor new pharmacy staff
- Support implementation of new systems, processes, or programs
- Cover vacations for other staff on the team within reason
Qualifications & Skills
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced pharmacy dispensary environment in any role
- Exposure to working positively with queer populations in any setting
- Experience with Fillware, Kroll or similar system is preferred
- Robust mathematical, technological, and communication skills
- Passion for advancing pharmacy scope to deliver and design innovative care models
- Thrives in team-based work with a collaborative attitude
- Committed to ongoing professional development

As the clinic provides care to a very diverse patient population, fluency in additional languages to English is ideal (high-demand languages for the clinic include Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Arabic).
Hours: Full-time

Rate: $29-$32
Hours: Daytime, evening, weekends depending on business needs (closed Sundays and stat holidays)
