Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Community Shift Nursing | York Region Make a Meaningful Impact Through One-on-One Nursing Care At RNS Health Care Services, we believe great nursing care is about more than clinical skills—it’s about the relationships we build with our clients and the difference we make in their everyday lives. We are looking for compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to join our growing Community Shift Nursing team. You will be assigned to a client for a dedicated nursing shift, providing consistent, one-on-one care in the client’s home or community setting.
You are not required to travel between multiple clients during your shift. Our clients are primarily young adults, with some pediatric clients, and may have specialized care needs including tracheostomy/ventilator and G-tube care. What You’ll Do As an RPN, you will:
- Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centred nursing care within your scope of practice.
- Provide dedicated one-on-one shift nursing care based on the individual needs of your assigned client.
- Assess client needs and participate in planning and implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provide education, guidance and support to clients and families.
- Support clients with specialized needs, including tracheostomy/ventilator and G-tube care, where applicable.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and complete required reports.
- Work collaboratively with the RNS team and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards and RNS policies.
- Continue your professional development through education, training and in-service opportunities. What We’re Looking For - Current Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience with tracheostomy/ventilator and/or G-tube care is preferred.
- Community, pediatric and/or palliative care experience is an asset.
- Foot Care Nursing certification/training is an asset. RPNs who are qualified to provide foot care services and are assigned foot care clients are eligible for an additional $5.00/hour for eligible foot care visits.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening completed within the required timeframe.
- Current TB screening within the required timeframe.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and clinical documentation skills.
- Ability to provide nursing services throughout York Region.
