Summary of Position The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Community Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to pediatric clients within school and community settings. Working independently and collaboratively with families, school staff, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, the RPN supports the health, safety, and well-being of children with medical, developmental, or complex care needs. This role involves providing direct nursing support to a caseload of up to three pediatric students during the school day, ensuring individualized care plans are followed while promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities - Provide direct nursing care and ongoing health support to up to three pediatric students within a school setting.

- Assess, monitor, and document students' health status, reporting changes in condition as required.
- Administer medications, enteral feeds, treatments, and other nursing interventions within the RPN scope of practice.
- Support students with complex medical needs, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and specialized healthcare requirements.
- Collaborate with families, educators, school staff, physicians,



and community healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Respond appropriately to medical concerns and emergencies that may arise during the school day.
- Educate and support school personnel and caregivers regarding student-specific care plans and health requirements.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to all regulatory, organizational, and privacy standards.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes students' physical, emotional, social, and developmental well-being.

Job Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in valuable standing.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Pediatric, community, home care, or family-centered care experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage community-based assignments.
- Proof of negative TB skin test within 1 year - Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
- Strong communication, assessment, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.
