A Host is responsible for greeting, welcoming and seating customers as they enter a restaurant or dining area.

Credentials required

· Food Handlers Certificate

· Smart Serve.

· Experience: 1 month to 1 year

Skills:

· Promptly greet arriving guests in a welcoming manner

· Accommodate guests seating requirements and escort guests to table.

· Monitor dining sections for table status

· Ensure communication with serving staff to estimate waiting times

· Help expedite orders as required or Serve food and beverages, general plate service as required

· Describe menu items including daily specials for customers

· Demonstrate excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette

Additional Skills:

· Customer service oriented;

· Address customers complaints or concerns

· Assist customers with special needs

· Assist restaurant staff with lobby coffee and water stations

· Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations

· Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs

· Load bus pans and trays; Set tables

· Load and unload glasswasher

· Assist with tray and plate clearing from hallways

· Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas; Replace linen.

· Essential Skills: Reading text;

· Document use; Numeracy; Writing; Communication; Working with others; Problem solving; Decision making; Critical thinking; Job task planning and organizing; Significant use of memory; Finding information; Computer use; Continuous learning.

- Have knowledge of hotel fire and safety procedures.




- Maintain a high level of customer service at all times.
- Handle guest enquiries.
