Position Purpose

Ensure the ongoing safety of our guests by monitoring hill and grounds conditions and managing them effectively. Proactively maintaining a safe environment with a high level of care for our guests, as well as administering first aid as required. For full details, please see attached .

Minimum Qualifications

- You must provide your own personal equipment: skis/snowboard, boots, bindings, layering clothes, eyewear, gloves, helmet etc. Medical vest/pack with EMS supplies will be provided by the Corporation.
- At least 16 years of age;
- A minimum of one-year previous experience is preferred;
- Registered or hold current certification with the Canadian Ski Patrol or equivalent training (i.e. First Responder/Paramedic Training) is an asset;
- Valid First Aid/CPR;
- Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, deemed as satisfactory by the Town;
- Valid Ontario class G Driver¿s license an asset but not required;
- Skiing Ability would be an asset ¿ ability to ski all of the terrain, in all snow conditions;

Position Summary

Ensure the ongoing safety of our guests by monitoring hill and grounds conditions and managing them effectively. Proactively maintaining a safe environment with a high level of care for our guests, as well as administering first aid as required.

Responsibilities

- Morning hill set-up and evening sweep to ensure proper signage, fencing, and communications services are in place and that there are no natural or man-made hazards;
- Ensures clear communication with other departments as it relates to the safety of the hill/trails;
- Provides and maintains a presence while on hill/trail while remaining available to assist guests;
- Ensures hill and grounds are safe during operation hours, identifies any potential safety hazards and monitors conditions of fencing by performing regular run checks;




- Promotes accident reduction through Skier/Snowboarder Education and maintenance of mountain safety and rescue equipment;
- Ensures that guests are complying with Rules of Conduct;
- Maintains warning signs, ski/snowboard boundary ropes, padding and fences;
- Responds to emergencies and provides medical care to the sick and injured and ensures that accident documentation is completed;
- Transports patients down the hill to the base area by toboggan for medical treatment and/or arrangement of transport to a medical facility;
- Extrication of patients from compromising situations and places, including rescue and emergency evacuation;
- Assists other areas as requested (i.e. grooming, snowmaking, lifts);
- Carries out all responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism;
- Complies with all procedures and policies.

Equipment

Skill/Knowledge Requirements

- At least 16 years of age;
- A minimum of one-year previous experience is preferred;
- Registered or hold current certification with the Canadian Ski Patrol or equivalent training (i.e. First Responder/Paramedic Training) is an asset;
- Skiing Ability would be an asset ¿ ability to ski all of the terrain, in all snow conditions;
- High level of physical conditioning, endurance and strength;
- Ability to work well under pressure;
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, writing, documentation and customer service skills;
- Thorough working knowledge of all applicable health and safety regulations and legislation;
- Ability to work in and withstand severe cold and adverse weather conditions;
- Must be available to work flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends;
- Valid First Aid/CPR;
- Valid Ontario class G Driver¿s license an asset but not required;
- Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, deemed as satisfactory by the Town;
