Position Overview We recently invested in a state-of-the-art collaborative robot (cobot) paired with a high-precision laser welding system. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Robotics & Automation Specialist (Junior Engineer or Engineering Technician) to lead the integration, daily operation, and long-term expansion of this technology on our shop floor.

This is a hands-on position ideal for a recent graduate of an engineering degree or college technician program who thrives in a practical manufacturing environment. You won't be stuck behind a desk—you will be on the shop floor acting as our primary automation expert, bridging the gap between modern technology and practical fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

- System Programming & Operation: Act as the primary programmer and operator for the cobot laser welding system, executing routine production runs and custom fabrication jobs.
- Process Optimization: Conduct ongoing testing to establish, document, and refine optimal welding parameters, recipes, and custom fixturing across various materials and joint types.
- Documentation & Safety: Draft clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality standards; train shop fabricators on basic system operation.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform regular maintenance, equipment calibration, and hands-on diagnostic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.

- Automation Expansion: Collaborate with senior engineers and fabricators to identify new parts, product lines, and future applications for cobot automation across the shop.

Qualifications

- Graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Welding Engineering Technology (or a related field).
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and a genuine passion for shop-floor manufacturing and automation.
- Practical exposure to robotics programming, CAD/CAM software, or welding techniques (laser, MIG, or TIG).
- Excellent written communication skills for authoring clear SOPs and quality logs.
- A proactive, self-directed mindset capable of troubleshooting independently in a fast-paced environment.

What We Offer

- Full-time, permanent job stability with year-round employment.
- Direct ownership over cutting-edge automation equipment from day one.
- Structured mentorship alongside experienced engineers and fabricators.
- Competitive entry-level salary, health/dental advantages, and career advancement opportunities.

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
