Job Overview

Ocean Star Clothing is looking for an energetic, motivated, and career-oriented Sales Associate to join our team at Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo.

This is a customer-facing sales position with the opportunity to receive hands-on training in custom apparel, textiles, embroidery, printing, and production equipment.

You’ll start by helping customers, processing orders and learning our products and customization services. As you gain experience, you’ll also learn how our embroidery and printing processes work and receive training to operate related equipment.

We’re particularly interested in someone who wants to build a longer-term career with the company. For the right candidate, there is potential to develop into Sales Representative, Business Development, and Key Account Management responsibilities over time.

What You’ll Do

- Greet customers and help them select products that meet their needs
- Explain apparel, products, customization options and services
- Recommend and upsell relevant products and services
- Process POS transactions, payments and customer orders accurately
- Provide excellent customer service in person and by phone
- Maintain organized and attractive merchandise displays
- Assist with inventory, sales records and customer inquiries
- Learn about fabrics, textiles, apparel, embroidery and printing
- Receive hands-on training on embroidery machines, printing equipment and related production processes
- Assist with custom apparel orders from initial customer inquiry through production
- Develop strong product knowledge to confidently answer customer questions
- Identify potential sales opportunities and build relationships with customers




- Take on additional sales and business development responsibilities as your skills and experience grow

What We’re Looking For

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Motivated to learn and take initiative
- Genuine interest in sales, custom apparel, textiles, embroidery or printing
- Willingness to learn how to safely operate embroidery, printing and related production equipment
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a retail environment
- Comfortable learning new products and explaining them clearly to customers
- Basic math skills and ability to accurately process transactions
- Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in developing customer relationships and sales skills

Assets

- Previous retail, customer service or sales experience
- Experience with apparel, textiles, embroidery, printing or customization
- Experience using POS systems
- Merchandising experience
- Additional language skills
- Existing knowledge of the Nanaimo business/community environment

No previous embroidery, textile or printing experience is required. Training will be provided to the right candidate.

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
