Shepherd’s Fashions is looking for an experienced, polished and sales-driven Retail Sales Associate to join our team at our Ottawa Train Yards store.

We are looking for someone who genuinely loves selling — someone who enjoys connecting with customers, understanding what they need, making confident recommendations and creating an experience that keeps them coming back.

Your Role

As a Retail Sales Associate, your primary focus is the customer.

You'll actively engage with customers throughout their visit, learn what they're looking for and use your product knowledge, styling ability and sales experience to help them make confident purchasing decisions.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Proactively greeting and engaging customers
- Building genuine relationships and establishing trust
- Asking thoughtful questions to understand a customer's needs, preferences and lifestyle
- Making confident product and styling recommendations
- Introducing customers to additional pieces and complete-look options
- Providing attentive fitting-room service and continuing the conversation throughout the customer's visit
- Developing strong knowledge of our brands, products, fits, fabrics and collections
- Helping customers navigate fit, sizing and styling choices
- Recognizing opportunities to build the sale while keeping recommendations relevant to the customer
- Following up with customers and developing ongoing client relationships
- Keeping in touch with customers about new arrivals, special pieces and products that may interest them
- Working toward individual and team sales goals
- Understanding your own sales performance and looking for opportunities to continually improve
- Supporting customer orders, transactions, returns and other service needs
- Helping maintain a polished, organized and inviting sales floor

Part of the Retail Team Sales will be your primary focus, but everyone contributes to keeping our store beautiful and running smoothly.

That includes

- Replenishing and merchandising the sales floor
- Maintaining fitting rooms and customer areas
- Steaming and preparing merchandise
- Unpacking and processing new arrivals when needed
- Keeping racks organized and merchandise presentation strong
- Assisting with transfers, stock and inventory-related tasks
- Supporting cash and other areas during busy periods
- Pitching in wherever the team needs help

We value people who see what needs to be done and contribute without being asked. Experience & Skills

Previous retail sales experience is strongly preferred, particularly in fashion, footwear, accessories, beauty, jewellery, premium retail, hospitality or another high-service environment.

We're especially interested in candidates who have experience with:

- Relationship or consultative selling
- Clienteling and customer follow-up
- Working toward sales targets or KPIs
- Styling or fashion retail
- Premium customer service
- Building repeat business and long-term customer relationships
