Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Salt Truck Driver to help keep commercial properties safe and accessible throughout the winter season. In this seasonal, on-call role, you will apply liquid brine and granular de-icing materials to parking lots, drive lanes, walkways, entrances, and other designated surfaces. Success requires sound judgment, careful equipment operation, accurate service records, and reliable availability before, during, and after winter weather events.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely operate trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, spreaders, and liquid application equipment.

· Apply brine, salt, and other approved de-icing materials according to assigned routes, site plans, weather conditions, and supervisor direction.

· Complete pre-use and post-use inspections of tanks, pumps, hoses, nozzles, spreaders, lights, and controls.

· Load and refill equipment safely, monitor material levels, and use appropriate application rates to reduce spills, waste, over-application, and property damage.

· Monitor forecasts and changing surface conditions and respond promptly to anti-icing and de-icing callouts.

· Maintain accurate records of routes, service times, weather and surface observations, and quantities applied.

· Report hazards, spills, incidents, property concerns, and equipment defects immediately.

· Follow company procedures, site-specific requirements, and applicable occupational health and safety practices.

· Support other winter operations duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· A minimum Class “A” Restricted (AR) is required for the position with a “DZ” license considered an asset and a clean drivers abstract.

· Experience operating winter maintenance, agricultural, landscaping, or liquid/granular application equipment is an asset.

· Ability to follow route plans, site instructions,



and application directions with solid attention to detail.

· Availability on short notice for variable shifts, including overnight hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and complete accurate electronic or paper service records.

· Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role in cold, wet, snowy, and icy conditions.

· Reliable transportation to and from the reporting location or assigned work site.

Working Conditions

· Seasonal, on-call work based on forecasts and site conditions; hours are weather dependent and not guaranteed.

· Shifts may occur overnight, early in the morning, during evenings, on weekends, and on holidays.

· Work is performed outdoors and around moving vehicles and equipment in cold, wet, snowy, and icy conditions.

· Job-specific training and required personal protective equipment will be provided.

· Reliable attendance and timely response to callouts.

· Safe, consistent, and accurate application of brine and salt.

· Complete and accurate service and material-use records.

· Prompt communication about changing conditions, hazards, and equipment concerns.

· Careful operation and cleanliness of assigned vehicles and equipment.

The base rate for this position is $26/hour, plus an $8/hour Winter premium. We are looking for qualified, motivated, and dedicated employees to join our team!!
