Position Summary
Valcom Manufacturing Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting activities of Valcom Antennas, the Group's holding companies, a registered charity, and several affiliated entities.
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end processes, preparing financial reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across multiple business entities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional seeking exposure to a diverse portfolio that includes manufacturing operations, holding companies, investments, charitable organizations, and other affiliated businesses within a growing corporate group.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records across multiple entities.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger transactions, and banking activities.
- Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries.
- Maintain fixed asset, investment, and related accounting records.
- Record and reconcile investment income, dividends, interest, management fees, and other investment-related transactions.
- Manage intercompany transactions, loans, advances, and balances between related entities.
- Ensure all transactions are properly coded, documented, and supported.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Produce balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and other financial analyses as required.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies.
- Maintain supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts.
- Provide financial information and analysis to ownership and management.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities.
Cash Management & Banking
- Monitor cash balances, banking activity, and upcoming financial obligations.
- Prepare and coordinate electronic payments, transfers, and cheque runs.
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts.
- Maintain banking records and related documentation.
- Assist with cash management and fund transfers between related entities.
- Ensure appropriate authorization and supporting documentation is maintained for financial transactions.
Tax & Year-End Support
- Maintain accounting records and working papers required for corporate tax reporting.
- Coordinate year-end requirements with external accountants and advisors.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for tax filings.
- Assist with GST/HST filings and other government remittances.
- Track shareholder loans, dividends, management fees, and other transactions with tax implications.
- Respond to information requests from auditors, accountants, tax advisors, and professional service providers.
Investment & Corporate Administration
- Maintain accurate records of investments and ownership interests.
- Track investment purchases, sales, distributions, dividends, interest income, and related expenses.
- Maintain schedules for shareholder loans and related-party transactions.
- Support the maintenance of corporate financial records and documentation.
- Assist with financial reporting requirements related to acquisitions, divestitures, financing activities, and corporate restructuring initiatives.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Maintain solid financial controls and proper supporting documentation.
- Identify unusual transactions, risks, or discrepancies and escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Support compliance with internal controls, authorization processes, and accounting policies.
- Safeguard confidential financial, ownership, investment, compensation, and business information.
- Protect sensitive financial records and ensure appropriate confidentiality practices are maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, tax requirements, and financial reporting practices.
- CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, holding companies, investment entities, or not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems, preferably NetSuite and QuickBooks.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
