SENIOR ACCOUNTANT & PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR

Role Overview

Jewish Family Services (JFS) is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant & Payroll Administrator to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance & IT, the Senior Accountant & Payroll Administrator is responsible for leading the financial reporting and payroll functions across the organization. We are looking for a self-starter with a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

What You Will Do

· Take ownership of the financial reporting processes and coordinate the preparation of monthly financial statements

· Prepare the month end close including reconciliations, working papers, and journal entries

· Track, recognize, and reconcile restricted or deferred revenue

· Assist with the yearend close including working papers, schedules, documentation, supporting the audit process, and compliance reporting

· Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, financial forecasting, cash flow management, and budget variance analysis reporting to the leadership team.

· Collaborate with program staff to invoice clients, process payments, and prepare funder reports

· Process payroll for employees, maintaining employee payroll profiles,



and reconciling payroll to the general ledger

· Support the administration of employee benefits programs

· Ensure compliance with regulatory payroll remitting and reporting requirements (EI, CPP, income tax, EHT, WCB, and benefits)

· Assist with evaluation and optimization of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

· Provide task management, development support and guidance to the Junior Accountant role

· Additional tasks as assigned

What You Will Bring to the Job

· CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA PEP

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting

· 3-5 years of progressive accounting and payroll experience

· Prior ASNPO or not-for-profit experience would be considered a strong asset

· Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite; with strong Excel skills

· Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge, AlayaCare, ADP WorkForce Now, or QuickBooks Online would be considered an asset

· Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

What You Will Receive

· Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The annual salary range for this role is $75,000-$82,000 for a full time position; 35 hours per week.
