The Senior Associate is an experienced public accounting professional responsible for completing accounting and tax engagements with a high degree of independence. The role requires strong technical knowledge, effective file management, and the ability to identify and resolve routine accounting and tax issues with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare and complete compilation and other year-end engagements, including working papers, adjusting entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare Canadian corporate (T2) and personal (T1) income tax returns and related filings.
- Review client accounting records, investigate discrepancies, and resolve routine accounting and tax issues.
- Assist with CRA correspondence and other client tax matters.
- Manage assigned engagements, including timelines, budgets, outstanding information, and client communication.
- Ensure files are complete, accurate, and ready for Manager or Partner review.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting matters, deadlines, outstanding information, and routine inquiries.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to Articling Students and junior staff.
- Maintain accurate workflow and time records and promptly communicate significant delays or engagement issues.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and Firm training.
Qualifications - Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Previous public accounting experience, including year-end engagements and Canadian tax preparation.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and Canadian personal and corporate taxation.
- Experience with Caseware, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar software is preferred.
- CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset. Core Competencies - Technical accounting and tax knowledge.

Associate is expected to complete routine engagements with limited supervision, identify and resolve issues before review, manage client and deadline requirements effectively, and submit high-quality files requiring fewer substantive review adjustments.
