Located in Ottawa, Ontario, Central Precast was established in 1956 and began manufacturing precast concrete products for the general construction industry. The product line and manufacturing facility grew to include landscape, utility products, manholes, concrete poles, steps, barriers, and architectural panels. As the product line expanded, new companies were formed to focus on their specific industries, and The Precast Group was formed.

The Precast Group is currently looking for a full-time permanent Corporate Controller (CPA) to support their 3 locations in the Ottawa area.
Overview:
The Corporate Controller, reporting to the CFO, is a senior finance role responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and control activities across multiple manufacturing entities. While the initial mandate is firmly rooted in controllership, this position is intended for a high‑performing CPA, CA with the capability and ambition to assume expanded responsibilities as experience, judgment, and business understanding deepen.
Progression beyond the Controller role will be based on demonstrated performance, leadership maturity, and business readiness, rather than a fixed timeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Controllership (Initial Focus)
- Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes across multiple legal entities
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial reporting and management information
- Research, document, and support technical accounting positions
- Serve as primary liaison with external accountants on year‑end engagements
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Oversee costing, inventory valuation,
and cost of goods sold
- Analyze production and operational variances in partnership with plant leadership
- Ensure appropriate accounting for inventory, WIP, capital assets, and depreciation
- Provide financial insight to support margin management and operational discipline
Controls, Compliance & Financial Governance
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Support corporate income tax filings, HST, payroll, and related reporting
- Strengthen financial processes to support long‑term scalability
Progressive Leadership Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team across multiple locations
- Partner closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Gain increasing exposure to banking relationships, working capital strategy, and capital investments
- Participate in strategic initiatives such as system upgrades, expansions, or acquisitions, as appropriate
- Gradually assume broader enterprise‑level financial responsibilities based on readiness and performance
- Work with department heads to create training programs
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation required (CA strongly asset)
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting background (audit/assurance) combined with industry experience preferred
- Strong technical accounting expertise with hands‑on ASPE experience
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience operating in a multi‑entity environment
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence across functions
- ERP experience; exposure to implementations or optimizations is an asset. Dynamics Business Central preferred.

Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
