Location: Merritt, BC V1K 1B8 CA (Primary) - The candidate will be responsible for creating and managing contracts for road and bridge maintenance and installation while inspecting Forest Service Roads to identify and prioritize repairs.
- The candidate will be required to apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure safe travel and environmental protection on Forest Service Roads.
- The candidate will be required to collaborate with specialists on a variety of projects, including storm recovery and wildfire rehabilitation, from concept to completion. Job Requirements - The candidate must possess a diploma in Civil Engineering, Natural Resource, or a related field such as chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, or geoscience.
- The candidate must possess an equivalent combination of education and experience in a resource management-related field.
- The candidate must be registered or immediately eligible for registration (within six (6) months of employment) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or related designation with Forest Professionals BC, with confirmation of registration or eligibility required before an offer of employment can be made.
- The candidate must possess work experience in a resource management field.
- The candidate must possess experience providing direction to contracted resources.
- Preference may be given to candidates with a minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience gained within the last five (5) years.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience and/or training in contract monitoring and administration.
- The candidate must possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or an equivalent driver’s licence.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment. Security and safety - The candidate must undergo a Criminal Record Check (CRC) as part of the hiring process. Work conditions - The candidate must meet all applicable WorkSafeBC safety standards while performing job duties.
- The candidate will be required to conduct field work that may involve travel by vehicle and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- The candidate must be proficient in the use of an ATV and a snowmobile in various field conditions.
