Senior Government Affairs Manager

Position Overview The Senior Government Affairs Manager will lead federal and provincial government affairs activities across Canada. The role focuses on government relations, public policy, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and strategic issues affecting business operations and growth.

Key areas of focus include infrastructure, housing, procurement, manufacturing, permitting, regulatory affairs, industrial competitiveness, and construction-related policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead federal and provincial government affairs strategies, including engagement plans, policy priorities, and advocacy initiatives.
- Represent the organization in discussions with Ministers' offices, Members of Parliament, provincial Premiers' offices, political staff, and government officials.
- Develop and maintain relationships with federal departments and agencies responsible for infrastructure, housing, industry, trade, environment, transportation, and procurement.
- Advocate for policies supporting domestic manufacturing, local supply chains, and resilient construction delivery.
- Engage with Buy Canadian / Build Canada Strong procurement frameworks and related policies affecting construction materials and building products.
- Support initiatives designed to accelerate infrastructure delivery, improve permitting certainty, and encourage investment in Canadian manufacturing.
- Monitor and influence provincial regulatory developments related to environmental permitting, land use, transportation, industrial policy, and construction standards.
- Develop relationships with industry associations, chambers of commerce, Indigenous partners, NGOs,



community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Advise senior executives on government affairs, public policy, political developments, and potential business impacts.
- Translate policy and regulatory developments into strategic recommendations and business implications.
- Support and promote health, safety, and environmental policies across applicable work environments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, political strategy, or related leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience influencing federal and/or provincial policy outcomes in Canada.
- Strong understanding of Canadian government processes, regulatory environments, and stakeholder landscapes.
- Proven ability to advise senior executives and align multiple business functions around strategic priorities.
- Robust political judgment and executive presence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate policy and regulatory developments into business impact and strategic action.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel regularly across Canada, approximately 25–40% of the time.
- Ability to work effectively in dynamic political environments and manage competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to comply with applicable safety requirements when visiting operational sites.
