Our client is seeking a Contract Senior Python Quantitative Developer to play a hands-on role in rebuilding the quantitative modelling component of a modern Asset Management web application. This position will focus on developing production-grade Python analytics supporting active equity portfolio construction, factor analytics, risk modelling, algorithmic execution, pricing tools, and new trading strategies.
This is a highly technical development role requiring deep, current Python expertise combined with quantitative modelling and Asset Management or Capital Markets experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and unit-test the Python quantitative modelling component of an Asset Management web application.
- Translate quantitative models, calculations, and business requirements into production-grade, testable Python code.
- Develop analytics supporting portfolio construction, factor analysis, risk modelling, pricing, attribution, and algorithmic execution.
- Participate in the migration and rebuilding of existing quantitative functionality on the target-state platform.
- Conduct peer code reviews of web application components developed by an offshore team, providing detailed feedback on correctness, performance, security, readability, and maintainability.
- Diagnose and resolve defects identified during SIT and UAT within established delivery timelines.
- Produce technical documentation to support downstream maintenance, support, and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with Architecture and Business Analysis teams to clarify requirements and make design decisions affecting the quantitative component.
- Work within established Git, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience with deep, hands-on and current Python development expertise.
- Demonstrated experience developing quantitative models, analytics, or calculation engines, preferably within Asset Management or Capital Markets.
- Experience with pricing, risk, optimization, portfolio analytics, and/or attribution models.
- Strong experience building server-side components for web applications, including REST APIs, service integration, and authentication-aware endpoints.
- Working knowledge of modern JavaScript-based front ends, containerized AWS deployments, relational databases, and cloud data access.
- Solid code review skills, with the ability to identify design, security, performance, and maintainability issues and provide constructive code-level feedback.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Asset Management or Capital Markets experience, with the ability to understand the business meaning and application of quantitative models.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving SIT and UAT defects in a structured delivery environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.
- Previous experience with a platform migration, modernization, or application rebuild within a regulated financial services environment.
- Exposure to model governance, model validation, or related quantitative controls.
