Lead Registered Veterinary Technician – Surgery & Clinical Operations

Are you an experienced RVT who loves surgery, thrives on organization, and enjoys helping other veterinary professionals become stronger and more confident?

We are looking for a highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to take a leadership role within our clinical team. This is an opportunity for an experienced technician who wants to remain hands-on with patients while also taking ownership of surgical workflow, procedures, technician development, coaching, and clinical scheduling.

This is more than a traditional RVT position. We are looking for someone who can help set the standard for how an exceptional veterinary team works together.

The Opportunity

As our Lead RVT – Surgery & Clinical Operations, you will work closely with our veterinarians and leadership team to ensure our patients receive excellent medical care while helping the clinical team operate efficiently and consistently.

You will be a key resource for the RVT and support team—someone who can coach, troubleshoot, organize, and lead by example.

You will have the prospect to help shape how we approach surgery, anesthesia, patient flow, technician appointments, procedures, training, and scheduling.

What You'll Lead

Surgery & Anesthesia

- Coordinate and support daily surgical and procedural workflows
- Perform and oversee anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and pain-management protocols
- Support dentistry, radiography, laboratory diagnostics, catheter placement, blood collection, and other advanced technical procedures
- Ensure surgical equipment, instruments, medications, and supplies are prepared and maintained
- Promote consistent anesthesia and patient-safety standards
- Help identify opportunities to improve surgical efficiency and utilization

Clinical Excellence

- Deliver exceptional nursing care to surgical, hospitalized, and outpatient patients
- Support veterinarians during examinations, procedures,

diagnostics, and treatments
- Perform laboratory and diagnostic testing
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records
- Ensure medications and treatments are administered accurately and safely
- Advocate for high standards of patient comfort, pain management, and fear-reducing techniques

Team Leadership & Coaching

- Act as a clinical resource and mentor for RVTs, veterinary assistants, and other support team members
- Coach team members to develop stronger technical and patient-care skills
- Help identify training opportunities and competency gaps
- Support onboarding and development of new team members
- Provide constructive feedback and celebrate progress
- Create an environment where team members are encouraged to learn, ask questions, and grow

Scheduling & Workflow

- Help develop effective RVT and clinical support schedules based on patient and DVM needs
- Ensure appropriate technician coverage for surgery, appointments, procedures, and hospitalized patients
- Help balance workloads and improve patient flow throughout the hospital
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend practical solutions
- Work collaboratively with leadership to ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time

Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you are an RVT who:
- Is registered and in good standing
- Has strong surgical, anesthesia, dentistry, laboratory, and patient-care skills
- Is confident managing complex anesthetic cases and patient recovery
- Enjoys teaching and developing other veterinary professionals
- Naturally sees what needs to be done and takes initiative

- Can organize people and priorities in a busy veterinary environment
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with veterinarians, team members, and clients
- Remains calm and solutions-focused when the hospital gets busy
- Understands that great leadership means supporting the team while maintaining clear standards and accountability
- Wants to continue developing professionally and clinically

Previous leadership experience is an asset, but we are also interested in experienced RVTs who are ready to take the next step into leadership.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means our surgical days run smoothly, patients receive exceptional nursing care, veterinarians are well supported, schedules reflect the needs of the hospital, and our technicians continue developing their skills and confidence.

Most importantly, you will help create a clinical culture where excellent patient care, teamwork, accountability, efficiency, and continuous learning are part of how we work every day.

Why Join Us?

We believe RVTs should be able to fully use the education, technical skills, and judgment they bring to veterinary medicine.

This role provides the opportunity to have a meaningful voice in how the hospital operates while continuing to do the clinical work you love.

If you are an experienced RVT who wants more ownership, more leadership, and the opportunity to make a measurable difference in both patient care and team development, we would love to meet you.

Apply today and tell us what you believe an exceptional RVT-led clinical team should look like.
