Senior Software Engineer – Java, Cloud & Distributed Systems

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our technology team in Vancouver and play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-performance, cloud-ready backend solutions .

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with robust Java, Spring, gRPC, Kubernetes, CI/CD, SQL, and cloud experience. You will contribute to architecture and design decisions, mentor other engineers, and help build the next generation of decisioning capabilities .

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional and external teams, and taking ownership of technical deliverables from design through production.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Java .
- Build applications using Spring, gRPC, and related Java frameworks .
- Own technical assets and assigned workstreams, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and production readiness.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand requirements and drive architecture and technical design discussions .
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.
- Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployments .
- Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives .
- Participate in code reviews and promote coding standards, best practices, and clean architecture.
- Develop automated deployment, testing, and validation processes to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex production and application issues and provide effective technical solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps,



product, and other engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on programming experience with Java .
- Deep knowledge of Spring Framework / Spring Boot .
- Strong experience with gRPC and backend service development.
- Experience developing high-performance and scalable applications .
- Strong knowledge of unit testing and mocking frameworks , including:
- JUnit
- Mockito
- EasyMock
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience working with Oracle databases .
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as REST Assured and Selenium WebDriver .
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes .
- Experience with CI/CD tools , particularly Jenkins.
- Experience with one or more cloud platforms:
- AWS
- Microsoft Azure
- Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting business-driven timelines.
- Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
