ABOUT FERN KIDS

Fern Kids builds children's furniture in Moorefield, Ontario. We design it, cut it on our CNC machines, sand it, finish it and ship it - all out of our shop on McGivern Street. It ends up in daycares, preschools, schools and homes across Canada and the US.

We're a small crew, so everyone here touches the product. If you take pride in work that leaves the building looking right, you'll fit.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a full-time shop hand. It's hands-on work across a number of work centres - sanding and routing, finishing, and assembly and pack-out - supporting wherever you're needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Sand and rout parts to spec, with a clean, consistent edge
- Paint product with a spray gun and keep the work area dust-free
- Assemble furniture from shop drawings - square, tight, and fastened properly
- Maintain shop cleanliness and meet safety requirements
- Attention to detail with a keen eye for quality
- Support work centres that require assistance

WHAT WE EXPECT
- Show up on time, ready to work
- Follow the safety rules, every time, even when you're in a hurry
- Speak up when unsure of process or quality
- Maintain equipment and keep work centres clean and organized




- Take pride in what leaves the building

WHAT YOU NEED
- Positive with your hands and comfortable on your feet for a full shift
- Attention to detail - you can spot a flaw in a sanded edge
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work as part of a small team
- Your own transportation to Moorefield (there's no transit out here)

NICE TO HAVE
- Woodworking, cabinetmaking or furniture manufacturing experience
- Comfortable with routers, sanders, table saws and pneumatic tools
- Forklift certification

None of these are dealbreakers. We'll train the right person - showing up and caring about the work matters more than a resume.

DETAILS

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, day shift
- $18.50 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience
- In person at 76 McGivern St, Moorefield, ON
- Start date: as soon as we find the right person
