ABOUT FERN KIDS

Fern Kids builds children's furniture in Moorefield, Ontario. We design it, cut it on our CNC machines, sand it, finish it and ship it - all out of our shop on McGivern Street. It ends up in daycares, preschools, schools and homes across Canada and the US.

We're a small crew, so everyone here touches the product. If you take pride in work that leaves the building looking right, you'll fit.

THE ROLE

This is a shop hand role with an extra side to it. Most weeks you're in the shop building furniture. When a job is ready to go in, you go with the install crew and put it in - daycares, preschools, schools and client sites.

If you like the variety of getting out of the shop and seeing where the work ends up, this is the one.

IN THE SHOP

- Sanding, routing, assembly and packout
- Help in the finishing bay, as needed
- Stage, pack and load orders for delivery
- Keep your station and the floor clean and organized

JOB SITE
- Travel with the install crew to job sites
- Unload, assemble and place furniture on site
- Anchor units where required and check everything is level, square and safe
- Touch up any damage, remove packaging, and leave the room clean and ready to use
- Represent Fern Kids well - you're often working in a childcare centre with staff and children around





WHAT YOU NEED
- Good with your hands, comfortable on your feet, able to lift 50 lbs
- Valid G licence and a clean driver's abstract
- Comfortable with early starts and longer days during install weeks
- Polite and presentable with customers - on site, you're the face of the company
- Attention to detail, both on the bench and in a finished room

NICE TO HAVE
- Delivery, install or construction site experience
- Confident with a drill, level, stud finder and basic hand tools
- Woodworking, cabinetmaking or furniture manufacturing experience

- Forklift certification

We'll train the right person on the shop side. The licence and the attitude on site are the parts we can't teach.

DETAILS

- Full time, Monday to Friday, day shift, with travel to job sites
- $18.50 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Based at 76 McGivern St, Moorefield, ON
- Start date: as soon as we find the right person
