SolidWorks CAD Designer / CNC Laser Programmer
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom sheet metal parts, assemblies and fabricated products using SolidWorks and other CAD software
- Create and modify detailed production drawings for fabrication and assembly
- Prepare accurate flat patterns, DXF files and production-ready files for CNC laser cutting
- Program and prepare jobs for CNC laser cutting, including nesting parts and optimizing material usage
- Review customer drawings, sketches, concepts and specifications and convert them into production-ready designs
- Work closely with production, laser, forming, welding and management to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
- Create and maintain accurate dimensions, tolerances, bend information and fabrication details
- Assist with prototypes, custom projects and design revisions
- Troubleshoot drawing, programming and fabrication issues as they arise during production
- Maintain organized drawing files, revisions and project documentation
- Review drawings and programs for accuracy before releasing jobs to production
- Assist with material requirements and BOMs where required
Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience with SolidWorks Sheet Metal is strongly preferred
- Experience preparing files and/or programming for CNC laser cutting
- Experience with nesting software and optimizing sheet material utilization is an asset
- Robust understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, bending/forming and welding
- Ability to create and interpret detailed manufacturing and technical drawings
- Understanding of tolerances, bend allowances, flat patterns and manufacturability
- Previous experience in a custom metal fabrication or manufacturing setting is strongly preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with production staff
- College diploma, technical training or related education is an asset, however equivalent hands-on industry experience will be considered

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
