Engineer - Insurance Modernization Our client is launching a new insurance modernization initiative and is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to act as the technical lead for a small automation team. This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll be architecting and building a test automation framework from the ground up while directly mentoring and guiding 2-3 automation engineers (potentially including offshore resources). This is a new role on a new project, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to shape the automation strategy and framework from day one.

What You'll Do - Design, build, and own an automation framework from scratch for a new insurance modernization program

- Act as the technical lead for a small automation pod (2-3 direct reports, potentially offshore), providing guidance, code review, and technical direction
- Remain hands-on (~80% of time) writing automated test scripts and framework code - this is not a purely supervisory role
- Develop and maintain automated test suites using Python and Playwright
- Collaborate with QA, development, and business teams to define automation strategy and coverage
- Drive best practices in test automation architecture, scalability, and maintainability What We're Looking For - 9-14 years of professional experience in software test automation
- Strong, demonstrable hands-on coding experience in Python
- Proven experience with Playwright for automation
- Banking or financial services background (insurance domain experience is not required - nice to have)
- Track record of building automation frameworks from the ground up (not just maintaining existing ones)
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a small team of automation engineers
