Employment Type: Full Time, On Site
Compensation: $20- $25 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Position Summary
Athlete Institute and Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy are seeking an energetic and dedicated Strength & Conditioning Coach to support our high-performance athletic programs. Working under the guidance of athletic leadership, this role focuses on executing day-to-day strength, mobility, and recovery sessions for student-athletes using the Preform System, an Accelerated, Athletic Performance Enhancement and Rehabilitation Hybrid System. Beyond physical instruction, the successful candidate will play an active role in educating and empowering young athletes to take ownership of their body care, movement habits, and long-term athletic durability in a positive, supportive prep workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Preform System Execution & Athletic Preparation
- Assist in delivering daily, weekly (micro), and monthly (macro) Preform hybrid training sequences tailored to athlete needs, movement deficiencies, and rehab protocols
- Educate student-athletes on proper movement mechanics, stretching, and muscle activation techniques, empowering them to actively understand and lead their own daily warm-up and recovery habits
- Partner with the Director, Strength and Conditioning alongside the Director, Academy Admissions & Operations and coaching team to identify development areas for all athletes; build, maintain, and regularly update individual development profiles to share with parents.
- Lead student-athletes through prescribed Preform movement patterns, agile warm-ups, stretching, and muscle activation routines to address dysfunctional movement and build physical durability
- Guide athletes through proper use of Power Plate technology and specialized vibration protocols to support rapid recovery between practices and games
- Assist with conducting physical evaluations, logging training data, tracking attendance, and monitoring athlete wellness metrics
Coaching Floor Support & Facility Operations
- Supervise weight room sessions, ensuring proper lifting mechanics, exercise safety, and high energy on the training floor
- Set up, maintain, and sanitize all strength, conditioning, and recovery equipment prior to and following team workouts
- Work alongside athletic therapists and head coaches to ensure athletes seamlessly follow prescribed return-to-play and maintenance programs
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to minor student-athletes, fostering accountability, discipline, and healthy lifestyle habits on and off the court
Team Logistics, Travel & Academy Support
- Lead match-day warm-ups, mobility sessions, and post-game recovery routines during home and away competitions; hold a valid G driver's license to assist with team transportation as needed
- Actively participate in ongoing mentorship, learning opportunities, and training on the Preform methodology
- Complete any and all duties as assigned by Directors, Head Coaches, and Management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field (or working toward completion)
- CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification, or actively working toward credentialing
- Strong foundational understanding of movement mechanics; familiarity with vibration technology (Power Plate) or hybrid rehab-S&C; systems is an asset
- Demonstrated passion for working with and empowering youth or prep-level student-athletes (minors)
- Prior coaching experience via internships, university assisting, prep school, or private training facilities
- High energy, eager to learn, and strong interpersonal skills
- Must hold a valid G driver's license and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Screen
- Ability to live on campus or travel as required by team schedules
- CPR/First Aid certification required
