The Department offers instruction in Mathematics at all levels. See the Undergraduate Program and Graduate Program pages for comprehensive information. The Department of Mathematics has established research groups in several areas of contemporary mathematics, including algebra, geometry, topology, analysis, and noncommutative geometry. Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Technical Project (Student) Lead to oversee the continued development, maintenance, and strategic direction of the Western Math Challenge Program web application. The Technical Project Lead will work closely with the Program Coordinator, student developers, and other stakeholders to guide the technical aspects of the project, establish development priorities, and ensure that the application remains secure, scalable, and maintanable.

This is a part-time student position, with up to 15 hours per week. The number of hours assigned throughout the term will depend on the available project budget, project needs, and the progress of development as determined by the Program Coordinator. Work schedules will be arranged in consultation with the Program Coordinator and may vary during the appointment period.





Responsibilities

- Lead the technical planning, development, and maintenance of the Math Challenge web application.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to student developers.
- Design and oversee application architecture, infrastructure, and deployment processes.
- Review code and establish software development standards and best practices.
- Coordinate project priorities and timelines with the Program Coordinator
- Ensure application security, privacy, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Oversee testing, quality assurance, documentation, and deployment processes.
- Monitor and improve system performance and scalability.
- Attend regular project meetings and provide technical progress updates.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting and mentoring team members.
- Commitment to producing high-quality, maintainable software.

Priority will be given to applicants who are registered students in the Faculty of Science at Western University and who demonstrate strong qualifications in the technical areas outlined in this posting.
