3K Solutions Inc. is a growing telecommunications contractor specializing in fibre optic installation, testing, and network construction.

We are expanding our operations in Ontario and are currently building our field team with a primary focus on St. Catharines and the Niagara Region, with work extending throughout St. Catharines, Waterloo, Hamilton, and surrounding areas.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Telecommunications Team Lead to join our Ontario operation and help lead our field teams.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will lead technicians in the field while also performing technical work, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting issues, coordinating with management, and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.

About the Position

As a Telecommunications Team Lead, you will lead a field crew responsible for fibre optic and telecommunications installations in residential, multi-unit residential, commercial, and outside-plant environments.

You will act as the primary field-level leader for your assigned crew and will be responsible for ensuring work is completed according to project plans, company standards, client requirements, and safety procedures.

The Team Lead is expected to lead by example and work alongside the crew. This is not a desk position.

Our current focus is on building our team in St. Catharines, although work will take place throughout the St. Catharines, Waterloo, Hamilton, and surrounding areas.

As our Ontario operation grows, there may also be opportunities for company-paid travel to other cities and regions throughout Ontario. Travel assignments may involve overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities - Field Leadership

- Lead and coordinate a crew of field technicians
- Assign daily tasks and ensure the crew understands the scope of work
- Lead by example and participate directly in field installation work
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, and job progress
- Ensure work is completed according to network plans, specifications, and client requirements
- Identify issues in the field and work with management to resolve them
- Communicate project status, challenges, material requirements, and other field issues to the Project Manager or Operations Manager
- Assist with coordinating daily site activities and crew requirements
- Provide guidance and training to junior and entry-level technicians
- Help develop technicians' technical skills and understanding of quality requirements
- Identify workmanship issues and ensure deficiencies are corrected properly
- Maintain professional relationships with customers, building management, contractors, and other site personnel

Fibre & Telecommunications Work

- Install fibre optic cable and telecommunications equipment
- Perform fibre optic installations in residential, multi-unit residential, commercial, and outside-plant environments
- Perform fibre preparation, termination, splicing, and testing
- Troubleshoot fibre and installation issues
- Read and interpret network plans, drawings, and installation instructions
- Install fibre termination points, boxes, and related telecommunications equipment
- Route, secure, organize, and label fibre optic cables
- Perform outside-plant fibre construction and deployment work
- Assist with network commissioning and testing
- Verify completed work meets company and client quality standards
- Assist with final inspections, remediation, and project closeout

Safety & Quality

- Ensure the crew follows all company, client, and applicable safety requirements
- Complete and review required daily safety documentation
- Ensure proper PPE and fall protection are being used
- Lead by example regarding safe work practices
- Monitor work at heights, ladder use, and elevated work platform activities
- Ensure technicians are properly trained and authorized before operating applicable equipment
- Identify and report hazards and unsafe conditions
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Ensure installations meet required workmanship and quality standards




- Participate in site audits and quality inspections
- Ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly

Vehicles, Tools & Equipment

- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly
- Operate bucket vans/aerial lift vehicles when properly trained and authorized
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean and properly maintained
- Transport and secure company tools, equipment, and materials
- Ensure crew members properly care for company tools and equipment
- Monitor tools, materials, and equipment assigned to the crew
- Report damage, loss, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly
- Take responsibility for company property assigned to the crew

Documentation & Communication

- Complete required job documentation
- Take required installation and progress photographs
- Maintain accurate records of completed work
- Communicate daily progress and field issues to management
- Report material requirements and shortages
- Track work completed by the crew
- Assist with project closeout documentation
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the Project Manager and Operations team

- Experienced in telecommunications and fibre optic installation
- Able to demonstrate practical telecommunications field experience
- Comfortable leading a small field crew
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- A strong communicator
- Organized and dependable
- Comfortable working with customers, building management, contractors, and other trades
- Able to troubleshoot technical and field issues
- Comfortable reading network plans and technical drawings
- Safety-conscious and willing to hold themselves and others accountable
- Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and from bucket vans
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Physically capable of performing hands-on field work
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Willing to train and mentor less-experienced technicians
- Responsible with company vehicles, tools, equipment, and property
- Professional and respectful when representing 3K Solutions on customer sites
- Willing to travel between job sites and, when required, to other areas of Ontario

Required Experience Previous telecommunications field experience is required.

Candidates must have practical experience working in the telecommunications industry. Experience with fibre optic installation is highly valuable.

Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:

- Fibre optic installation
- Fibre splicing
- Fibre testing and troubleshooting
- Multi-unit residential fibre deployments
- Outside plant (OSP) construction
- Low-voltage cabling
- Structured cabling
- Data/network cabling
- Telecommunications construction
- Crew leadership or supervision

Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset but is not required. Candidates who demonstrate strong technical ability, reliability, communication skills, and the ability to lead a crew may be considered. Training & Career Development

Requirements

- Previous telecommunications field experience is required
- Valid driver's licence
- Reliable transportation to designated meeting points and/or job sites
- Ability to travel between St. Catharines, Waterloo, Hamilton and surrounding areas
- Willingness to travel outside the local area when required
- Ability to work full-time Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime
- Ability to work at heights and climb ladders
- Ability to work from bucket vans/elevated work platforms when properly trained and authorized
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must successfully complete required company and client safety training
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Employment is conditional upon successfully completing required drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company and/or client requirements
- Must maintain a professional and safety-conscious approach while operating company vehicles and working on customer properties

Company Vehicles, Tools & Equipment The Team Lead will be entrusted with company vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and other company property and may be responsible for equipment assigned to their crew. The successful candidate is expected to:

- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly
- Follow all company vehicle policies
- Keep company vehicles clean and properly maintained
- Properly secure tools, equipment, and materials
- Ensure crew members take proper care of company property
- Take reasonable steps to prevent loss, damage, or misuse
- Report damage, loss, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain accountability for tools and equipment assigned to the crew
