At Magnetic Potential, we’re helping make innovative, evidence-based mental health care more accessible through Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and other neuroscience-informed approaches. Our clinic provides personalized care in a warm, welcoming environment, with a focus on both clinical excellence and the patient experience. We specialize in accelerated TMS protocols, including intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), and are passionate about the potential of neuroscience to transform mental health treatment.

We’re growing our team and looking for a compassionate, curious, and detail-oriented TMS Technician to join us on a part-time basis.

This is an opportunity to learn a specialized and emerging treatment modality, work closely with patients, and play a meaningful role in their treatment journey.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a TMS Technician, you’ll be at the heart of the patient experience.

Working under the direction and supervision of the treating physician, you’ll deliver TMS treatments, support patients throughout their sessions, monitor their response to treatment, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and help ensure that each visit feels safe, professional, and supportive.

Because TMS treatment typically involves seeing patients repeatedly over the course of their treatment, you’ll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships and become a familiar, reassuring presence in their care.

We’re looking for someone who is calm and confident around people, highly attentive to detail, comfortable learning technology, and genuinely interested in mental health, neuroscience, and the future of psychiatric care.

No previous TMS experience? That’s okay. If you bring the right attitude, strong transferable skills, and a willingness to learn, we’ll provide training on our equipment and clinical protocols.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Patient Pre-Screening & Telephone Consultations

- Conduct telephone consultations with prospective patients to gather information and determine whether they may be an appropriate candidate for TMS treatment, in accordance with established screening protocols.
- Clearly and compassionately explain TMS, including the treatment process, what patients can expect, general eligibility requirements, potential benefits, common side effects, and other relevant information.
- Use effective communication and active listening skills to understand prospective patients’ questions, concerns, needs, and expectations.
- Follow established scripts, guidelines, and screening procedures while maintaining a skilled, empathetic, and patient-centred approach.
- Accurately document consultation and screening information and identify when questions or concerns require follow-up by an appropriate clinical team member.
- Develop confidence and proficiency in communicating TMS-related information through training, coaching, and ongoing learning.




- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when handling patient and prospective patient information.

Deliver TMS Treatment

- Safely and accurately deliver TMS treatments according to established clinical protocols and physician orders.
- Operate specialized TMS equipment and ensure treatment parameters are accurately entered and verified.
- Assist with motor threshold determination, coil positioning, treatment setup, and parameter adjustments as directed by the treating clinician.
- Follow clinic-specific treatment protocols and physician direction.
- Ensure appropriate patient positioning and comfort throughout each session.
- Complete pre-treatment safety checks and identify any factors requiring clinical review.

Support Patients Through Their Treatment Journey

- Welcome patients and create a calm, comfortable, and supportive treatment environment.
- Build positive rapport and develop trusting relationships with patients throughout their treatment course.
- Explain TMS procedures and help patients understand what to expect during and after treatment.
- Support patients who may be nervous, apprehensive, or unfamiliar with TMS.
- Monitor patients throughout treatment for discomfort, headaches, changes in mood, anxiety, or other potential adverse effects.
- Listen carefully to patient concerns and communicate clinical concerns or changes in presentation promptly to the treating physician.
- Provide appropriate post-treatment instructions and support.

Document & Track Treatment

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the clinic’s EMR.
- Complete treatment logs, session notes, treatment parameters, and relevant clinical records.
- Administer and document standardized measures such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, and other outcome measures as directed.
- Track attendance, treatment progress, side effects, and patient-reported responses.
- Communicate relevant observations and treatment responses to the treating physician.

Help Keep the Clinic Running Smoothly

- Assist with scheduling, appointment coordination, and daily treatment flow.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure equipment and supplies are ready.
- Maintain a clean, organized, skilled, and welcoming environment.
- Follow clinic policies related to privacy, confidentiality, infection prevention, and patient safety.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting.
- Communicate equipment concerns and assist with servicing or maintenance coordination when required.
- Contribute ideas that improve clinic workflows and the overall patient experience.

WHAT YOU BRING

Requirements

- Post-secondary education in psychology, neuroscience, health sciences, nursing, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable




- Demonstrated ability to interact compassionately and professionally with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow clinical protocols precisely.
- Comfort learning and operating specialized medical or neuromodulation equipment.
- Comfort working with electronic medical records and digital systems.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Good judgment and the ability to recognize concerns and appropriately escalate them to the treating clinician.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to patient privacy, confidentiality, safety, and professional boundaries.

Experience That’s an Asset

- Experience in a mental health, medical, psychology, neuroscience, or clinical setting.
- Previous TMS experience or familiarity with neuromodulation.
- Experience administering standardized psychological rating scales.
- Experience with EMR or clinical documentation systems.
- Knowledge of depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, or other mental health conditions.
- An interest in neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and emerging approaches to mental health treatment.
