Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.
We have obtained FDA approval and officially begun the commercial launch of the Globe® Pulsed Field System. This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life-changing technology to patients!
As a member of the UX/UI team, you will work closely with Product Management, Usability, and Software Development teams to update and promote our design system and design new interactions/UX improvements for the software that drives user interaction with the Globe system.
You will conduct heuristic/UX expert review of existing interactions and propose (and test) alternative designs, representing improvements to our software. Your work will help embed UX/UI best practices and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
You will be instrumental to ensuring best UX/UI practices for consistency, accessibility, and usability in software used in a highly technical domain.
Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.
What You Will Experience
You will engage in activities that develop practical and transferable skills such as:
- Support quick design tasks as well as longer-running design projects.
- Research and promote inspirational UX/UI design patterns, including competitive analysis and benchmarks from other domains.
- Create appropriately detailed design documentation to support the design process (wireframes, mock-ups).
- Design detailed UX/UI prototypes and mock-ups to test with users and guide software development.
- Communicate design guidance to product development teams.
- Participate in hands-on user feedback sessions.
- Design graphical elements and icons as part of the user experience.
- Lead design activities as well as contribute to other designers’ work.
- Occasionally provide design support to other teams in the company.

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:
- Partial completion of a degree or diploma in: UX design, interaction design, human computer interaction, digital media design.
- Demonstrated experience creating UX /UI documentation, such as mock-ups, wireframes, and/or prototypes.
- Experience with standard design tools: Figma, Adobe Suite (PhotoShop
- Illustrator)
- Demonstrated experience creating and working with components
- Special interest in UI design: micro-interactions, color and visual design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure to UX/UI best practices from games, consumer applications, B2B applications regarding accessibility, visual design and interaction patterns.

Compensation
Compensation for this role is based on multiple factors including your current year of study, the number of previous co-op terms completed, as well as market data.
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Relocation Support
- Relocation Allowance: We offer a relocation allowance to support out-of-province students moving to Burnaby BC for their Co-op/Intern term.
- Community Before Day One: Out-of-province students make up about 30% of each cohort. We connect all incoming students through email before the term starts to help with planning the move.
