Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Volunteer for gaining experience as Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This is an upaid Volunteering position. We are a busy and growing law office seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our practice in the areas of Family Law, Immigration, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation.

This role is ideal for individuals who are currently enrolled in, or pursuing, a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant program, Immigration Assistant program and are eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional legal setting. Experienced case workers with hands-on experience in Immigration Law are also welcome to apply who are open to learn recent areas of practice. Please note that this position is NOT for foreign trained lawyers, future lawyers, articling students, or NCA candidates and solely dedicated for Law Clerks or Legal Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with drafting legal documents, forms, and correspondence
- File and organize client records and court documents




- Schedule meetings, court dates and agenda
- Communicate with clients, government agencies, and third parties
- Perform legal research and prepare case summaries as needed
- Support lawyers with administrative and clerical duties
- Work on immigration matters
- Work on software such as divorcemate

Requirements:

- Currently enrolled in law clerk, legal assistant position (preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software tools (Divorcemate)
- Fluency in Hindi and/or Punjabi is a strong asset

Schedule:

- Hours of Work: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Total: 30-40 hours per week
- Duration: 8 weeks
- Location: In-person (no remote or hybrid option)
- Interview: Sep 15– Sep 16

Pay: $1.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
