INTRODUCTION
Command Fishing and Pipe Recovery (CFPR) headquartered in Nisku Alberta is the largest well intervention open and cased hole (fishing)company in the Western Canadian Sedimentary basin with 4 service locations across Western Canada and a sales office in Calgary. CFPR supplies well intervention expertise and equipment to the Drilling and Service rig industry.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Well Intervention Fishing Shop Hand works in the shop cleaning, painting, repairing, assembling+ dis- assembling well intervention tools that are used by CFPR Well Intervention ( Fishing Specialists) at client rig field locations. They also assist the Fishing Tool Coordinator ( Dispatcher)
in preparing the basket of tools for use on the jobs and also receives the tools back in the shop after the job where they are responsible for cleaning them and preparing for 3rd party inspection. Post inspection, the Fishing Shop Hand ensures the tools are ready again for use and assists in the facilitation of getting them back into the company inventory system.
They also assist in packaging fishing tools when requested by other Command Base Locations.
Both maintaining shop and yard housekeeping/ i.e. snow removal and yard maintenance is a vital part of this position as well as reviewing paperwork, operating overhead cranes, forklifts, loader and related hand tools as needed. The Shop Hand also works with various types of “acid” cleaners for cleaning tools where wearing PPE is required.
NOTE: The shift for this Position is Monday through Friday, day shift. Overtime and on- call as needed when approved by management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrating commitment to contributing to Command Mission/ Vision/ Goals and Objectives.
- Demonstrating commitment to both working safe, participating in the Command Company Safety Programs and where applicable the client Health /Safety programs.
- Assisting the Well intervention Fishing Tool Coordinators (Dispatchers)providing general labour with shipping fishing tools to rig sites and other Command Locations as needed.
- Receiving the Fishing Tools back from Field Locations, facilitating the cleaning of the tools with acid (basket in a caustic tank) and then preparing them for third party inspection.
- Inspecting, breaking tools apart, painting, grinding, assembly, re furbishing tools
- · Responsible for shop housekeeping and keeping the work area “free from work hazards and debris.”
- Conducting deliveries using shop truck as needed to 3rd party shops and suppliers.
- Maintaining the yard site and greeting 3rd party vendors who come into the yard ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
- Being available for overtime and on call rotational assignments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS /ABILITIES:
- A minimum of one to two years PRIOR shop laborer experience preferably from an oilfield environment
- A minimum of 1 year experience with various hand tools such as grinders, painting equipment or equivalent.
- Valid forklift and overhead crane tickets or capability of obtaining tickets post hire and demonstrating competence in their operation within probationary employment period.
- Possessing a valid operator's license in good standing and the capability of provide suitable drivers abstract to meet company and insurance requirements.
- Demonstrated use of basic computer programs and internal company computer programs.
- Prior experience operating loader equipment considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to being organized, have a process for work activities and the ability to anticipate the next step in a process with strong logistical and planning skills.
- Demonstrated strong mechanical skillsets/abilities necessary for working in a shop environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and work alone unsupervised.
- Flexible availability required to work long hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Adhering to Bonafide job requirements include the ability to pass pre-employment drug/ alcohol testing; pre-employment physical demands testing; pre-Access drug and alcohol testing when required by the client to access client property.
- Having the ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 pounds) unassisted, capable of standing, walking, bending for extended periods.
- Working long hours, the capability for working overtime and being on call as needed.
Lines of Communication- The Fishing Shop Hand Position will report directly to the Location Base Manager.
- Working Conditions- Working in a shop setting with moving machinery/ noisy environment as well as working around chemicals used for cleaning metal fishing tools.
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
