About LOVE BC

LOVE BC (Leave Out Violence Society BC) partners with schools across Metro Vancouver to deliver free violence-prevention programming for youth in grades 6-12. Through art, media, self-defense, and anti-oppression workshops, we help young people build emotional resilience, healthy relationships, and community connection.

Position Overview The Youth Leader co-facilitates weekly programming alongside an experienced LOVE facilitator, helping lead activities, supporting participants, and bringing a peer voice into the room. This is a paid entry-level role with training and mentorship built in.

Contract Dates: October 15, 2026 to June 15, 2027

Key Responsibilities

- Co-facilitate weekly programming with a lead facilitator, including setup, teardown, and travel to site.
- Participant Support: Check in with youth during activities, encourage participation, and assist with art and media work.
- Debrief & Training (1 hr/week): Take part in a short debrief after each session, monthly staff training, and a monthly check-in with the Program Coordinator.

Flag any participant concerns to the lead facilitator.

Qualifications

- Aged 16-24
- Completed leadership training with a LOVE BC partner organization
- Interest in working with youth (ages 11-18)
- Reliable and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.
- Able to travel to a school site in Metro Vancouver.
- Creative skills (art, music, video, writing), and additional languages are assets.
- No prior facilitation or work experience required - training provided.

Compensation & Schedule

- $18.25/hour for 3-5 hours/week
- Applicants under 19 require a parent or guardian to sign the contract.
- A criminal record check for working with vulnerable populations is required before starting.
