- availability to work primarily in person in Toronto.
Kooh Law Professional Corporation is seeking an Ontario lawyer to join its immigration, refugee and Federal Court practice as Contract Counsel.
This is an opportunity to undertake substantive litigation work in a focused Toronto practice with direct collaboration with principal counsel, strong administrative support and a up-to-date digital practice environment.
Depending on experience, work may include Federal Court leave and judicial review matters, PRRA, RPD/RAD proceedings, IAD matters, sponsorship/refusal matters, inadmissibility, section 44 matters, immigration consequences of criminality, evidence review, client conferences and written advocacy. Federal Court experience is particularly valued.
The position is primarily based at 120 Adelaide Street West, Toronto. Regular office collaboration supports immediate discussion of strategy, efficient delegation, coordinated file management, mentoring and consistent quality control.
Technology Fluency
Kooh Law operates a digitally integrated practice using Clio, Microsoft 365, Teams,
Outlook, SharePoint/OneDrive, electronic filing, digital document and evidence management, PDF workflows and virtual hearing platforms. Candidates should work confidently within a modern digital legal environment, maintain disciplined electronic files and learn new systems quickly.
We are looking for a lawyer who:
- is licensed and in positive standing with the LSO;
- has relevant immigration/refugee experience;
- demonstrates excellent written advocacy and professional judgment;
- can take ownership of assigned files;
- manages deadlines and digital files carefully;
- communicates effectively with clients, counsel and staff; and
- is genuinely interested in regular in-person collaboration.
An existing book of business is not required. Compensation is structured on a contract-counsel basis by reference to professional fees collected on assigned matters. Detailed terms will be discussed confidentially with shortlisted candidates.
