Since 2012, Northstar has expanded from its original location in Southern Ontario, and now operates from 6 branches across Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta, employing more than 400 experienced professionals.Who we are looking for:An Estimator is responsible for establishing recent business relationships within the construction industry, creating sales opportunities, and estimating/quoting those opportunities. This position develops business opportunities and leads company growth, with a primary mandate focused on adding and developing new customer relationships. This position is responsible for being the primary point‑of‑contact for key projects throughout the project life‑cycle.MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCanvas and develop new accounts and explore new areas of business in OttawaSecure opportunities with on‑site decision‑makersEstablish relationships and maintain contact with accountsCold calling to generate recent leads and client accounts with large general contractors and small builders alike, follow up and closePreparation of proposals, quotations and contracts (i.E., estimating)Determine construction obstacles that may increase the project cost in advance; ability to make alternative recommendationsService as the primary “point of contact” for customers during project execution, serving customer needs and requests and troubleshooting when/if required.Meet pre‑established sales goals,



targets and objectives directed by ManagementOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS5+ years of industry sales/estimating experience (e.G., previous experience estimating/selling scaffolding or other access solutions, or previous experience managing or building scaffolding‑related projects)Valid driver’s license in good standingHighschool diplomaKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESProven ability to network effectively with on‑site project managers/site supervisors and a history of building and sustaining strong business relationshipsAgile and highly motivated self‑starter who enjoys working in the construction field, being mobile and is comfortable building new relationshipsDemonstrated a track record of success in prospecting and growing new accounts, creating opportunities for new work, preparing quotes and pitching new clientsAbility to read drawings, plans, and blueprintsMathematical, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilitiesBasic knowledge and use of computer software: email, spreadsheets, MS Office and familiarity of CAD SoftwareExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to take initiative and work with minimal supervision under tight time constraintsA sense of urgency and capable of responding to matters in a timely mannerValid driver’s license in good standingENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORTWork is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures will range throughout the various seasons with exposure to cold and hot temperaturesStanding and walking occurs frequentlyDriving and sitting for long periods of time occurs frequentlyWorking at a desk, viewing a computer screen,
