Job Title: Parks and Horticulture SupervisorThe RoleWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Parks and Horticulture Supervisor with our Public Works team. This 18‑month term position provides day‑to‑day leadership within the department, contributing to safety culture and service excellence.The OpportunityAs a member of the Public Works leadership team, you will apply industry knowledge of processes and equipment, lead and supervise the crew, and coordinate operational plans for the care and maintenance of the City’s gardens, parks, lawns, athletic fields, cemetery, and other landscaped environments. During the spring, summer, and fall seasons, you will supervise landscape maintenance, gardening, and planting activities, ensuring high safety awareness and compliance. In winter, you will continue to lead landscape operations and support general Public Works tasks such as snow removal.QualificationsCompletion of a post‑secondary program in arboriculture, horticulture, landscaping, or related field, or an ITA trade certification, or professional certification as a landscape and horticultural technologist/technician,



supplemented by a minimum of three years of recent related work experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).Knowledge and ability to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with relevant regulations.Ability to lead and support an organizational culture that promotes safety and customer service excellence.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to coordinate resources and materials, monitor operations, and progress toward goals.Artistic sense and visualization of completed landscaped environments.Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.Ability to operate related equipment.Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.Satisfactory police information check (required for employment).BenefitsCompetitive compensation of $41.90 (2026 rates) per hour and comprehensive advantages, including health, vision, dental, group insurance, pension, and wellness.
