Duties The position will fulfill the responsibilities of a Junior Instructor with the Traffic Technician Training Cadre, teaching alongside Master Corporals and Sergeants to deliver training for the Traffic Technician – Rank Qualification: Private, Traffic Technician – Rank Qualification: Corporal, and 3K Dangerous Goods courses.

Intent of the process The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Borden, Ontario.

This is an inventory process, and candidates will be assessed continuously during this period. Apply early to be considered for immediate vacancies.

Please note that candidates will only be assessed once, and re-applications to the inventory will not be considered.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

Positions to be filled 1

Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain a valid departmental driver’s license (DND 404).

Must be willing and able to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 30 kg, climbing ladders, working on uneven surfaces, and standing for periods of 4-5 hours (non-continuous) on a daily basis.

Must be willing and able to travel within the Province of Quebec and Ontario and across Canada.

EDUCATION

ED1: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note:

1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or

o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:

a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and

b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the GT classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
