Cambrian College's Schools of Skills Training requires a 4-month Millwright technologist (with possibility of extension), on a leave replacement basis, beginning September 2026.
- Plan, organize, and maintain millwright and machine lab facilities including repairs, preventive maintenance.
- Provide technical expertise of a specialized nature to faculty and students and determine the best services and methods required to meet user needs, and provide assistance and direction to students while in the lab.
- Design and develop equipment, systems, materials, etc., to meet students' learning requirements.
- Evaluate equipment and other resources and make recommendations whether to purchase or repair.
- Control supply inventory and monitor budget in conjunction with the department coordinator.
- Promote and uphold a workplace safety standard and be an effective role model within the classroom.
Required
- Certificate of Qualification as a 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or 429A General Machinist journeyperson. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada,
applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Three years of experience after completion of apprenticeship training.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work with clients.
- High degree of initiative, work-related flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills.
- The ability to advise and positively interact with students is important, as is the ability to work within a team setting.
Assets/Preferred
- Postsecondary diploma in Millwright or General Machinist
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
- Teaching or hands-on training experience.
