Nurse PractitionerDepartment:HealthcareEmployment Type:Fixed Term ContractLocation:MillbrookCompensation:$59.47 - $67.17 / hourEmployment OverviewA Nurse Practitioner role delivering holistic, culturally safe primary care to individuals and families in Millbrook First Nation. Reports to the Director of Health & Social Services and works within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.ResponsibilitiesCollaborative, Community-Based CareDeliver comprehensive primary care as part of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring coordinated and person- and family-centred care.Collaborate with physicians and allied health professionals to assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor patient health.Contribute to continuity of care by connecting patients to programs, services, and community resources.Clinical Excellence & Patient ManagementConduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments using strong clinical and diagnostic reasoning.Develop and implement care plans that support both immediate needs and long-term health outcomes.Provide chronic disease management, preventative care, and health promotion support.Support patients in building self-management skills and confidence in their health journey.Health Promotion & AdvocacyChampion a holistic approach to health that integrates physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well‑being.Promote early detection, illness prevention, and education grounded in behaviour change and self‑management principles.Advocate for patients and contribute to equitable, culturally safe care practices.Team Contribution & Continuous LearningFoster strong working relationships across the health services team and broader community supports.Contribute to a positive team environment grounded in collaboration, respect,



and shared learning.Apply evidence‑based practices and remain committed to ongoing professional development.Support knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team.QualificationsEducation & CredentialsMaster of Nursing (Advanced Nursing Practice) or equivalent Nurse Practitioner program.Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner – Family/All Ages (or eligibility) with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.ExperienceProven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner, ideally within community or primary care settings.Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience across a variety of clinical environments.Experience working with patients across the lifespan (families, children, adults, and seniors).Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.Knowledge & ApproachStrong understanding of health promotion, population health, and determinants of health.Demonstrated ability to provide holistic, patient-centred care grounded in cultural awareness and safety.Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.Personal AttributesA relationship‑builder who leads with empathy, respect, and integrity.Culturally aware and committed to providing safe, inclusive care.Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work in a energetic,



community‑based environment.Committed to continuous learning, collaboration, and supporting team success.Other RequirementsValid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends.Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds.Ability to carry equipment and supplies as needed.Manual dexterity to operate computers and related equipment.Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic in a community‑based care environment.Working at Millbrook First NationPay Scale:$59.47 - $67.17/hour. Compensation is based on education, skills and experience in accordance with the Nova Scotia Nurses Union pay scale.Contract:16-month contract, June 2026 - October 2027.Schedule:Monday to Friday, 32-hour compressed work week.
