For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, the Engineer provides a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Engineer will support distribution system planning, long term capacity planning and customer connections. This involves being responsible for short-term and long term planning of distribution system, working with customers in the connection process and developing the Toronto Hydro Demand Load Forecast that reflect among other things, the long-term impact of electrification and DER penetration into the Toronto Hydro grid.The successful incumbent will utilize various planning and load forecasting inputs from vehicle and transit electrification, Distributed Energy Resources, Demand Response initiatives as well as Grid Modernization to sequence infrastructure investments to prepare the Toronto Hydro grid for the future.This posting is to fill one (1) position, which is an existing vacancy. Toronto Hydro reserves the right, in alignment with the applicable collective agreement, to finalize the number of positions filled.Key Responsibilities Perform short‐term and long‐term distribution system planning studies to assess system capacity, performance, and reliabilityEvaluate impacts of load growth, electrification, DERs,



and customer connections on distribution feeders and stationsDevelop long term distribution system/feeder load forecast; conduct and analyze technical and economic planning to identify long term distribution system requirements supplying the load reliably and efficientlyConduct technical analysis like capacity assessments and cost estimatesStay abreast of trends and technical innovations that result in potential business development opportunitiesLiaise with customers, developers, technical consultants, and internal stakeholders to support connection conversations and long term investment planningRespond to technical requests and inquiries on Toronto Hydro's Conditions of Service while seeking support from other business units as necessaryTranslate customer requirements to internal stakeholders to provide an accurate description of customer needs to the organizationAct as a reliable point of contact to address technical customer inquiriesProvide informed support or leadership on strategic technical projects.Contributes in short and long term strategic planningResponsible for the timely, technically accurate and cost-effective application of engineering practicesCompares alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, customer needs, safety, statistical analysisand engineering principles, and recommends the optimum solutionManage relationships with inter-organizational business units and external customers as requiredMay be called upon to act as a team or project leaderRequirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario4+ years of relevant experience in supporting Engineering or System Planning, with data analytics (including scenario‐based forecasting) for energy or utility networksExperience with advanced analytics on large, complex datasets, including data linkage, processing,
