Our portfolio includes residential and commercial mortgages, consumer deposits, GICs, credit cards, retail and automobile financing, and digital lending.About the Role We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our in‐house legal team. The Counsel reports to the Director of Legal and works closely with business units to grow the business while ensuring legal and regulatory risk is mitigated and managed.Responsibilities Provide strategic legal support to product owners, operations, human resources, risk, finance, marketing, technology, and product development teams.Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial contracts, leases, and related documents to support Fairstone's consumer lending products, including personal loans, credit cards, retail point‐of‐sale financing, and auto lending.Serve as the main legal point of contact for business lines.Advise business units on federal and provincial laws and regulations, including consumer protection, consumer lending, and privacy.Be accountable for assigned workload and special projects that may arise from time to time.Demonstrate strong judgment, analytical, and problem‐solving skills, and synthesize complex issues to propose pragmatic solutions.Qualifications Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws (LLB.) degree.Licensed to practice law in Canada and a lawyer in good standing with a provincial law society (Quebec or Ontario bar membership preferred).3–5 years of corporate commercial experience in a law firm or in‐house legal department, preferably in banking,
