Intermediate Network Technical AnalystIntermediate Network Technical Analyst (Information Systems Officer 24). Works within Infrastructure Services, focusing on network and security operations, providing incident support, order management, and project participation.DescriptionProvides technical expertise in analyzing security and network connectivity problems that cannot be resolved at Tier 1 Help Desk. Determines the nature of problems (WAN, LAN, Security), documents incidents, resolves or escalates as appropriate. Supports order management, collaborates with clients and support staff, participates in infrastructure projects, and provides installations, configuration, operation, and maintenance of network and security infrastructure components.Accountabilities / DeliverablesSupport, maintenance, and problem resolution for network and security setting:Second level incident support (60% of time): ticket handling, status updates, accurate entry in incident management system.Escalate or refer incidents to partner service providers.Review network and security orders for client authorization and completeness.Schedule, monitor, and ensure timely completion of orders.Assess access issues for common network applications (e‑mail, DHCP, DNS).Assist in global or regional network outage events, client notifications, and post‑incident reviews.Design and implement network infrastructure changes, integrating input from technology groups.Monitor incident data to identify chronic or trend incidents.Communicate incident priorities to team lead and partners.Guide help desk and other support teams in resolving issues.Participate in problem analysis and incident reviews.Develop and enforce network policies and procedures.Collaborate with colleagues,



clients and service providers on operational issues.Train other Intermediate Analysts and provide mentorship.Provide on‑call support during non‑business hours when required.Support application troubleshooting and technical guidance for internal teams.Participate in infrastructure systems projects (20% of time):Analyze system performance and forecast capacity.Recommend upgrades or enhancements.Provide technical expertise on network projects.Plan overall project requirements and application areas.Test product compatibility with new application environments.Draft purchase requisitions and work with vendors.Install, configure, and coordinate network components.Maintain policies and procedures.Perform related duties (20% of time):Communicate with Situation Manager on high severity incidents.Draft technical communications for end‑users.Collect and consolidate metrics for SLA reporting.Provide technical reviews for change requests.Recommend process improvements.Selection CriteriaEducation: Degree in IT > 3 years experience or Diploma with 4 years experience or certificate with 5 years experience; 6 years experience acceptable.Strong experience in network segmentation, subnets, VLANs, IPAM and routing.Experience with Checkpoint firewalls and Tipping Point IPS preferred.Network certification (Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent) desirable.ITIL framework V3/V4 (certification preferred).IT security best practices and methodologies.Experience providing support for WAN (5+ sites) and LAN (200+ users).Experience in data center operations.Knowledge of firewall rule and IPS policies.Strong organization, communication, and team skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Standby and on‑call may be required.Overtime may be required.Required CompetenciesCustomer FocusIntegrity and TrustEthics and ValuesMotivating OthersDrive for ResultsBuilding Effective TeamsPriority SettingDecision QualityBusiness AcumenOrganizingBenefits & CompensationSalary: $89,149.97–$101,701.30 (based on a 35‑hour week)Full‑time, Regular Union – BCGEU Level 24, Schedule 2Office Location: Victoria, BC – Hybrid15 vacation days with increases for serviceFlexible work arrangements and modified work weeksParental leave with top‑up optionEmployee Assisted Program (paid counseling services)Paid sick leaveExtended health and dental coveragePublic Service Pension plan, matched by Advanced SolutionsExcellent rewards and recognition program#J-18808-Ljbffr
