The T4 works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and mentors other Ryder technicians on a regular basis. The Technician IV provides the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair. The position also plays a key role in the leadership, development and training of other grade technicians. The T4 may specialize in areas such as refrigeration, electronics, exhaust systems, etc., and should possess a combination of extensive vehicle transportation experience, ASE certifications, and/or multiple Ryder Qualifications. Essential Functions Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, complex mechanical and electronic repairs with minimal support, and remote triage with RCRC and customers. Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints, instructs and advises other technicians, coaches/mentors, and advises shop management on shop repairs. Performs facility maintenance duties and utilizes key functions of the Shop Management System.



Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.E., safety, DOT, MOT). Other support duties including Service Island support as required. Additional Responsibilities Tire and Wheel Maintenance : Tire & Wheel safety trained within 90 days (TW220); repair and replace tireand wheel assemblies; verify and repairtire-related complaints; perform failure analysis. Preventive Maintenance : PM trained and qualified within 90 days (PM230 & PM298); mentor technicians in PMs and conduct quality inspections. Brake – Air : Brake Air trained and qualified within 90 days (BA220 & BA298); perform air brakesections, overhauls, and meet federal qualifications (FMCS 396.25). Brake – Hydraulic : Brake Hydraulic trained and qualified within 90 days (BH220 & BH298); perform hydraulicbrakerepairs and meet federal qualifications. A/C, Heater & Refrigeration : Certified and qualified within specified time frames; perform system checks, charging, recovery, and diagnostics. Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates : Diagnostics, failure analysis, and repair of liftgate components. Charging Systems : HD electrical trained within 90 days; perform full diagnosticcharging system analysis. Cranking System : Perform in-depth analysis and repairs. Lighting System and Electrical Accessories : Diagnose and repair lighting and electronic subsystems. Clutch : Identify proper operation, adjust, and replace clutch components. Cooling Systems : Diagnose, rebuild fan clutches, and repair associated systems. Drive Axles & Drive Line : Perform diagnostics, major repairs, and failure analysis. Diesel and Gas Engines : Diagnose and overhaul engines, handle emissions subsystems. Fuel Systems : Diagnose, repair, and replace fuel system components. Steering and Non-Driven Axles and Alignment : Perform alignment, diagnose, and repair steering components. Suspension–Chassis and Cab : Diagnose and repair air leaks, chassis components, and perform failure analysis. Vehicle Coupling System (PM) : Repair replace 5th wheel and diagnose coupling components. Decision Making : Responsible for decisions surrounding vehicle diagnostics and repair. Skills and Abilities Strong mechanical skills; proficiency with advanced diagnostics, overhaul and repair of all vehicle components. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly thorough,



dependable, and available for on-call duty and shift/weekend work. Ability to build professional relationships within all levels of the organization. Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task. Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices. Advanced computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse). Qualifications H.S. diploma/GED preferred. Vocational or Technical Certification preferred; Post Secondary orTechnical Certifications. Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including maintenance, diagnostics and advanced repairs. Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred. Valid Commercial Driver License (AZ) or G Driver License. All other certifications as required by location, required.
